January 19, 2010 - CID Gallantry Awards - visit by thalassaemic child

Sony Entertainment Television announced the CID Gallantry Awards, an initiative to encourage and honour acts of bravery in society. The awards aimed at felicitating inspiring acts of bravery, and encouraging the younger generation to be courageous and brave. The programme is conceived as an extension of the popular, longest-running television show – ‘CID’.

Thousands of entries were received from all over the country in two categories – Physical Bravery and Social Bravery. A Jury comprising Gerson D’Cunha, Shantha Gokhale, Kavita Karkare and Ashutosh selected the award winners from the entries received. The winners received their awards at a glittering ceremony held at the Taj Lands End, with celebrities from the entertainment world in attendance.

Sony Entertainment Television had extended an invitation to Think Foundation with the objective of bringing cheer in the lives of thalassaemic children. For the 30 thalassaemic children and their parents it was an opportunity to see the ceremony with all the splendor and entertainment. They had a chance to see meet the stars of ‘CID’ in flesh and blood, and even interact with them. The icing on the cake was the opportunity to meet Indian film industry’s superstar, Salman Khan. This is one meeting they will remember for a long time.

Sony had taken care to see that the children, parents and members of Think Foundation were served a sumptuous dinner. And, when it was time to leave, arrangements were made to drop the children at the nearest railway station.

Think Foundation is grateful to Sony Entertainment and the cast of CID for their kindness. We would like to make a special mention of Pori Shah, Ujwal Anand, Charlotte and Swati for their personal attention and concern.
